Our project partners from BOKU (Austria), NARDI (Romania) and ATK (Hungary) have recently published a new paper in the Journal of Cereal Science.

The article provides new insights into the breeding of organic wheat varieties with a stable high grain protein event at low soil nitrogen availability. The team transferred a specific gene for high grain protein content, originally identified in wild emmer, into two bread wheat elite varieties. This functional allele can help organic wheat meet market requirements for protein content.
